JUSTICE for nevadans

discovery

Discovery is the stage of a lawsuit where both sides exchange information relevant to the case. Its purpose is to ensure that each party understands the facts, evidence, and legal issues before trial.

Many important facts come to light during discovery. Documents are produced, witnesses are questioned, and both sides gain a clearer understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the case.

Discovery often plays a significant role in settlement discussions because it allows both parties to evaluate the evidence before trial.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

The discovery process can take several months depending on the complexity of the case. During this time, I will guide you through responding to requests, preparing for depositions if necessary, and gathering evidence to support your claims.

While discovery requires patience and attention to detail, it is one of the most important stages of litigation and often has a significant impact on the outcome of a case.

Discovery may include:

  • Document Requests

  • Written Questions (Interrogatories)

  • Requests for Admission

  • Depositions

  • Subpoenas

TRIAL AND APPEALS

Trials can last anywhere from a single day to several weeks, depending on the complexity of the case. While no attorney can guarantee a particular outcome, careful preparation and experienced courtroom advocacy are critical to presenting the strongest possible case. With over 40 years of courtroom experience and relationships within the Nevada legal system, I’m equipped to best represent you and apply the effective strategies.

An appeal is not a new trial. Instead, it is a request for a higher court to review whether a legal error occurred during the original case that affected the outcome. This is a specialty of mine in reversing erroneous decisions.
